Washington, D.C. -- THE PLAYERS Championship will air nationwide on XM Satellite Radio live from THE PLAYERS Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Pre-tournament coverage will begin May 6. The event will air on XM May 8-11.
XM will devote two radio channels to THE PLAYERS. The PGA TOUR Network (XM Channel 146) will provide play-by-play coverage, analysis, and interviews with the top golfers. The second XM channel will be dedicated to the famed par-3 17th hole featuring the dramatic island green. This channel will air the audio from the Live @ THE PLAYERS web page at PGATOUR.COM. XM listeners can hear the LIVE @ THE PLAYERS audio on XM channel 148.
The PGA TOUR Network’s coverage of THE PLAYERS begins Tuesday, May 6, at 2 pm ET/11 am PT with pre-tournament press conferences at TPC Sawgrass. A live preview of THE PLAYERS will air Wednesday, May 7, starting at 2 pm ET/11 am PT. Play-by-play coverage begins Thursday, May 8, at 12 noon/9 am PT and ends Sunday, May 11, when the coveted trophy is awarded.
XM’s on-air team on the PGA TOUR Network will be led by host Brian Katrek and analyst John Maginnes. Reporting from key positions on the course will be Mark Carnevale, Michael Collins, Maureen Madill, and Fred Abers. The scorecard anchor and reporter will be John Tautges.
The Live @ THE PLAYERS channel covering the 17th hole is on the air May 8-9 from 9 am to 7:30 pm ET/6 am to 4:30 pm PT and on May 10-11 from 11 am to 7 pm ET/8 am to 4 pm PT. The on-air team for the Live @ THE PLAYERS channel will be Doug Bell, Bob Stevens, and Bill Kratzert.
