WASHINGTON, D.C. – July 17, 2008 – XM (NASDAQ: XMSR), the nation’s leading provider of satellite radio, today announced a new complete marine aftermarket solution for satellite radio, available by early August 2008. The ProTechT Water-Resistant Marine Housing Kit by ProBrand can be installed on an XM subscriber’s boat making it possible to easily enjoy and protect the same XM radio used in the home, office or car on the boat — all with one affordable subscription.

The ProTechT Marine Kit will be on display this week at the Marine Aftermarket Accessory Tradeshow (MAATS) in the ProBrand/ XM booth (# 1326) in Las Vegas, Nev.

The ProTechT XM Marine Kit is the first complete water-resistant aftermarket marine solution for plug-and-play or portable XM2go radios that protect your XM receiver from damaging water, salt water, salt fog, ultraviolet rays and dust. Compatible XM radios are the XpressRC, XpressR, Xpress, XpressEZ and RoadyXT XM plug-and-play radios, and (with an adapter sold separately) the portable Pioneer Inno and Samsung Helix XM2go® radios.

The ProTechT lets you operate your plug-and-play XM radio or portable XM2go with an included waterproof, floating remote control that works with your radio when docked inside the housing. The XM radio’s full display remains visible through the front window allowing you to see the channel, artist and song title information.

The ProTechT Marine Kit includes:

  • A water-resistant marine housing that docks and protects your plug-and-play or portable XM radio from damaging water, salt water, salt fog, UV rays, and dust
  • A heavy-duty, adjustable mounting bracket that secures the housing and stainless steel mounting hardware
  • A compact, all-weather XM marine antenna, with a 25’ cable that allows for placement flexibility (as well as multiple mounting options)
  • A water-proof, floating remote control (two AAA batteries included) that operates the XM radio while inside the housing
  • A 3.5mm audio cable that allows you to connect your XM radio directly to your boat’s stereo system via an audio/auxiliary input port (if equipped). Users can also use the included FM Direct adapter to listen to XM through the boat’s FM radio.
