Interstate Connections And SIRIUS Satellite Radio Team- Up To Expand Distribution In The Heavy Truck Market
AUSTIN, TX & NEW YORK – March 24, 2004 – Interstate Connections, LLC, a distributor of high end mobile electronics in truck and travel centers, announced today an agreement with SIRIUS Satellite Radio (NASDAQ: SIRI), America’s premier satellite radio provider, to expand SIRIUS’ availability through Interstate’s network of stores.
Interstate, with its 70 store-within-a-store outlets located in Travel Centers of America and Petro Shopping Centers, will provide SIRIUS with direct access to professional truck drivers through Interstate’s assisted sales floors across the U.S. In conjunction with SIRIUS’ products, such as the Brix Streamer, designed specifically for the professional driver and distributed by Pana-Pacific Corporation, the agreement uniquely positions both parties to tap into the heavy truck aftermarket that today represents approximately 3.5 million potential subscribers.
"We feel that SIRIUS’ premium line-up, including live sports, around-the-clock traffic and weather reports as well as the SIRIUS Trucking Network are the perfect complement to any long haul operators lifestyle," said Brandon Frye, CEO of Interstate Connections. "This is a natural alliance between two companies that strongly believe that SIRIUS Satellite Radio not only makes trucking more fun but also more productive and safer."
SIRIUS provides subscribers with more than 100 digital-quality channels of premium entertainment. In addition to the best 100 percent commercial-free music available anywhere, SIRIUS offers live play-by-play of NFL, NHL and NBA games as well as talk programming from ESPN and Motor Racing Network (MRN). This year, SIRIUS will also launch the first and only coast-to-coast, 24/7 NFL talk channel.
"Interstate’s store-within-a-store approach and assisted sales floor ensures truckers understand all the benefits of SIRIUS and will get great customer service no matter where they drive," said Tom Steckbeck, Vice President of Non-Automotive OEM and Specialty Markets, SIRIUS. “Working together best positions both parties to maximize this tremendous opportunity.”
