NEW YORK – February 25, 2014 – SiriusXM and the Newseum today announced that Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) will be the featured guest on the next installment of the “SiriusXM Leading Ladies” series, candid conversations with influential and inspiring women who have forged their own paths to leadership and success.
In honor of Women’s History Month, Leader Pelosi will discuss her noted legislative accomplishments; the importance of having more women serve in office; mentors and women that have inspired her; key issues including jobs, education, immigration reform, sequestration, our obligation to veterans, energy and the environment, health care and more with SiriusXM P.O.T.U.S. host/veteran White House correspondent Julie Mason on March 4 at The Newseum in Washington, D.C. In addition to the one-on-one conversation between Leader Pelosi and Mason, the one-hour town hall style event will have an interactive element featuring questions from an audience of SiriusXM listeners, female students from D.C. universities and Newseum members.
Currently the Democratic Leader of the U.S. House of Representatives for the 113th Congress, Pelosi served as Speaker of the House from 2007-2011, the first woman to do so in American history. She first made history in November 2002 when House Democrats elected her the first woman to lead a major political party in Congress. Pelosi has led House Democrats for a decade and previously served as House Democratic Whip.
“No matter what your political leaning, Leader Pelosi is a trailblazer whose leadership in the political world has inspired and influenced women not only in Washington, D.C., but across the country,” said Dave Gorab, Vice President and General Manager, Talk Programming, SiriusXM.
