Entertainment Industry Veteran and Video Technology Expert Adds Expertise to Satellite Radio Broadcaster’s Board of Directors

NEW YORK – October 2, 2003 – SIRIUS (NASDAQ: SIRI), known for delivering the very best in commercial-free music and premium broadcast entertainment to cars and homes across the country, today announced that Warren N. Lieberfarb has joined its Board of Directors.

Credited as the architect of the DVD during the nearly twenty years he headed Warner Home Video, Lieberfarb began his career at Paramount Pictures and Twentieth Century Fox where he was instrumental in the development of pay television, home video and cable, including working with pioneers in the business, such as HBO.

“Warren brings not only extensive entertainment industry experience, but also exceptional insights to our industry,” said Joseph P. Clayton, President and CEO of SIRIUS. “His expertise will be tremendously valuable as we continue to expand, and as we develop new entertainment and information offerings to our growing base of subscribers.”

"I am genuinely excited by the prospects of working with Joe Clayton and his talented team at SIRIUS. This company has already, in my opinion, revolutionized radio by bringing it into the digital era, just as DVD did for home video. As a member of its Board of Directors, I look forward to helping SIRIUS achieve its goals."

In the mid-seventies Lieberfarb joined Warner Bros. as Executive Assistant to the Chairman, before being named Vice President for International Marketing. In 1982, he was appointed Senior Vice President of Warner Home Video, and two years later became President of that division.

Throughout his career, Lieberfarb has explored new channels of distributing filmed entertainment to consumers. The results of his efforts led to a single DVD format universally accepted by the consumer electronics, computer and entertainment industries.

The Financial Times dubbed Lieberfarb “Warner’s Man of Steel,” and also wrote, “Without his commitment and sharp elbows, the market would probably still be waiting for the DVD explosion. At best, digitally recorded films would be available in a muddle of incompatible formats.” Wired magazine selected him as “one of the 20 people reinventing Hollywood,” and in 2001, Entertainment Weekly named Lieberfarb one of the “101 Most Powerful People in Entertainment.”

In 1999, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences presented him with an Emmy Award for the development of DVD technology. Last year, Lieberfarb was named the first recipient of the Wharton/Infosys “Technology Change Agent” award for his pioneering efforts in developing and bringing the DVD to market.

Lieberfarb currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the American Film Institute and chairs its Executive Committee, and is also on the Board of Directors for DTS (Digital Theater Systems, Inc.). He serves on the Board of Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania as well as the Wharton Undergraduate Executive Board, and is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
