SIRIUS Satellite Radio Surpasses 600,000 Subscribers

  • Company On Track for One Million Subscribers by End of Year
  • Sports Fans Flocking to SIRIUS for the NFL, College Sports, and Unprecedented Play-by-Play Coverage

SIRIUS SATELLITE RADIO SURPASSES 600,000 SUBSCRIBERS NEW YORK - September 6, 2004 - SIRIUS (NASDAQ: SIRI), the premium satellite radio provider known for delivering the very best in commercial-free music and sports programming to cars and homes across the country, today announced that it has passed the 600,000 subscriber mark. The company remains on track to achieve one million subscribers by the end of the year.

SIRIUS reached the 600,000 mark over the Labor Day weekend, which was the debut weekend of SIRIUS' play-by-play coverage of college football from 23 major universities from around the country. Later this week, SIRIUS will debut SIRIUS NFL Sunday Drive, the new programming package that allows subscribers nationwide to hear every NFL game each week. SIRIUS is also home to 65 channels of 100% commercial-free music as well as over 55 channels of news, sports, weather, traffic information and call-in talk shows, all for the great value of $12.95 a month, with no added premiums, and discounts for advance payments of one-year or more.

"SIRIUS acquired 64,000 subscribers in August - the best month in our company's history - underscoring how great the consumer reaction has been to our service," said Joseph P. Clayton, CEO of SIRIUS. "Beginning in September, we expect even greater subscriber growth, thanks in part to our new retailing partnerships with RadioShack, DISH Network, Wal-Mart, Advance Auto Parts and other dealers to be announced."

"The Chrysler Corporation, along with our other OEM partners, will also contribute a significant number of subscribers, thanks to their 2005 model-year factory programs that are just now beginning to reach showrooms. We also expect great customer reaction to our new line of smaller, feature-rich radios and accessories that will hit store shelves beginning this month. We will support all of these initiatives with an extensive advertising campaign that highlights our NFL programming and our unmatched commercial-free music line up," added Clayton.

SIRIUS radios for the car and home beginning at $149 are also available at Best Buy, Circuit City, Crutchfield, Car Toys, Tweeter, Ultimate Electronics, Sears, Good Guys and thousands of other dealers around the country. SIRIUS radios are also available in select Ford, DaimlerChrysler, BMW, Audi, Volkswagen, Nissan and Infiniti automobiles.
