CES, LAS VEGAS & NEW YORK – January 7, 2004 – SIRIUS Satellite Radio (NASDAQ: SIRI), known for delivering the very best in commercial-free music and premium sports programming to cars and homes across the country, today announced that the Audiovox SIRBB1 Portable Boombox Audio System is now available at consumer electronics and mobile audio dealers. The new boombox component, which works with the Audiovox SIR-PNP2 S.R.S. Satellite Radio Shuttle, allows consumers to enjoy SIRIUS’ 100 streams of music, news, sports and entertainment anywhere, anytime.
The Audiovox SIRBB1 is available at retail for $99.99. The Audiovox SIR-PNP2, which can also be used in the car and home with custom docking kits, is available at retail for $99.95. The Audiovox SIR-PNP2 receiver has been available at retailers since November 2003. All S.R.S. receivers (SIR-PNP1 & SIR-PNP2) work with the new boombox accessory.
"The addition of the Audiovox Boombox, coupled with the ease-of-use and unique features of the Audiovox S.R.S., provides consumers with a compelling extension for their Audiovox SIRIUS Plug & Play receiver," said Larry Pesce, Senior Vice President Product Development and Strategic Planning at SIRIUS. "The new device marks the next step in product development for SIRIUS, as the company moves to offer aftermarket radios that provide greater transportability and flexibility in listening."
"We are very excited about the new product in our satellite radio product lineup", said Pat Lavelle, President and CEO of Audiovox Electronics Corp. "The SIRIUS boombox will give satellite radio sales a boost, as it allows the consumer the flexibility of SIRIUS in the car, the home, the office and even the beach or park."
Audiovox SIRBB1 Portable Boombox Audio System features:
The Audiovox S.R.S. Satellite Radio Shuttle (SIR-PNP2) has two features that were the first-ever for satellite radio. The SIR-CK1 Car Kit features an FM transmitter with four frequency adjustments incorporated into the docking station for a wireless connection to virtually any car radio. The SIR-PNP1 receiver was also the first-ever satellite radio system with a feature called S-Seek. This feature allows a listener to save up to 10 favorite song titles in the unit, which can alert the listener whenever one of these songs is playing on any SIRIUS stream. With the touch of a button, the unit can be tuned to the stream playing the song, allowing the listener to hear his or her favorite songs whenever they air on SIRIUS.
If the consumer doesn’t want to use the S.R.S. with a boombox, separate docking kits for the home and mobile environments are also available. The SIR-PNP2 allows subscribers to use the same unit in their car, home, office and boat, all for one subscription price of only $12.95 a month. The receiver has a MSRP of $99.95. The Car Dock and Home Dock each retail for $49.99. For a limited time, the receiver, car dock and home dock are available for a total price of $149.99, after rebate.
