CES, LAS VEGAS, NV -- January 8, 2003-- SIRIUS (NASDAQ: SIRI), the only satellite radio service delivering uncompromised coast-to-coast music and entertainment for your car and home, today announced that its service will available this month in rental cars from Hertz, the world's largest car rental company, for customers renting cars in Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Denver. This follows SIRIUS' launch with Hertz last month in major airport locations in California and Florida.
The program will offer SIRIUS units for renters of Ford Motor Company's Taurus, Windstar, Expedition, Explorer, Crown Victoria, and Mercury Grand Marquis models. Customers renting at Las Vegas' McCarran Airport, Phoenix's Sky Harbor Airport, and Denver International Airport can drive a vehicle with SIRIUS installed, and receive the SIRIUS service of 100 streams of the best entertainment coast-to-coast. This includes 60 original music streams, all commercial-free, and 40 streams of sports, news, and entertainment nationwide. Hertz customers are able to request SIRIUS directly at the rental counter.
Making the announcement during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, SIRIUS President and CEO Joseph P. Clayton remarked that, "SIRIUS and Hertz were the first team to introduce satellite radio to rental car customers. We're thrilled that in just a few short weeks since we launched the program in two key states, we have expanded the availability of SIRIUS to Hertz locations in three more major markets, including right here in Las Vegas. We look forward to further expanding our availability to additional Hertz markets in the near future."
"Offering SIRIUS is another way that Hertz is deploying technology to help make the rental experience more enjoyable for our customers," said Brian Kennedy, Hertz' Executive Vice President, Marketing and Sales. "It was only last month that we launched satellite radio in key California and Florida markets, and we are pleased to be able to offer this option now in three other important rental markets," he added.
